The Titanic was real? YES!

How many of you have heard about one of the most famous maritime disaster in the world? Yes, I am referring to the terrible fate of the RMS Titanic on April 10, 1912. And just to be make it clear, yes, the Titanic was a real ship and it really did sink on its maiden voyage.

Now why am I talking about an event which occurred a century ago? This is because recently there has been a lot of tweets on the Twitter from people saying that they had no idea that the ship/event was real. I was pretty dumbfounded to hear such thing. How can anybody not know about such a tragic disaster. Sure it happened long ago, but so did the pyramids, Roman Empire, etc. Right, in the defense of themselves, the people said, "what's so historically important about the sinking of this one ship as opposed to the tragedy of World War I?" You gotta be kidding me, the ramifications of the event was so great that it changed the nautical regulations so that such disaster will never happen again. New guidelines had to be drawn up to ensure people can cross the oceans safely and these people had the cheek to ask what's so important about it.

Some people can argue that they've never learnt about the event while they were in school. And I agree, not all schools teach these to the children. However, at some point surely you have heard about it through the media; whether it from printed materials, documentaries on TV or even from the internet. If you have the time to dedicate to following the updates of your favourite celebtrities, surely you could also spend some time reading/watching/listening to historical information.

And some people actually found out about the historical truth after watching the movie. That's what happened to me too. I knew about the real event months after seeing the movie for the first time. But that's the thing, I did not stop at that. I looked up for the information. Not trying to sound all snobbish, but I could be better than a lot of people out there. Of course you shouldn't assume everything you see on the TV is real; like the 2012 film. *rolls eyes* If the world is really going to end on December 2012, I'd borrow large sums of money and promise to return them on January 2013.

You bet more people have heard of Justin Bieber than the Titanic. And in 100 years, people would probably forget that the 9/11 happened. It just goes to say there are just ignorant people in this world. As my boyfriend puts it, "probably [watching movie is] the only way people will learn of history".

Anyway, while we're on the topic of reading, here's a question for you:

what is your favourite book?

I strongly agreed with that. People nowadays prefer to dig info about their fav celebrities rather than history and for sure we must know what had happened centuries ago. Whenever I watched movies(based on the real event) I will google it to get know more details about it. Honestly, I watched Titanic for hundred of times I guess *lol*

Favorite book? Ghost stories and crime.
