Sorry for not updating for close to a month. I've been busy with things like coursework and exams. Seriously, when you're at Masters level the stress just go up a few notch compared to when you were in your undergraduate years.
Apart from the usual hectic university life, I've been indulging myself in one of my favourite guilty pleasures: online shopping. I've been buying quite a lot of stuff from the net lately; most of them are clothes, but there are one or two other things like books or toys for my sisters. Also, I'd like to share my latest obsession. Some of you are probably aware of this but those who don't even have the slightest clue of what it is: Liz Lisa. Liz Lisa is a fashion brand for girls from Japan. The brand has several physical stores in Japan, a few in Hong Kong and China and one in San Francisco (I think). They also have an online shop for the brand and if like, you can take a look at it here. The items there are so lovely and dangerously cute but they're quite on the expensive side. I've explained this on my other blog so I hate to repeat it all over again. Just click the link above and you'll see what I mean.

Liz Lisa
I'd like to congratulate a couple of my online friends who won the Big Blog Exchange contest and won trips to Europe! Frigging hell they're so lucky! One of them (Kisty from The Style Mermaid) is set to visit the United Kingdom and I tell you this, if I hadn't visited the place myself before I would screaming my head off and pulling my hair out. To those who have not visited the UK yet, if you ever get the chance, it is an opportunity you shouldn't miss. It's a great place for vacation and there are just so many things to see. In case you're wondering though, I'm not working for the UK Tourism Board or anything like that but I'm simply sharing my thoughts and feelings about the place. :DLabels: Big Blog Exchange contest, Liz Lisa, musings, online shopping, random, UK

I am contemplating to write another tutorial and/or article soon but I am rather undecided as to which one should I write first (don't suggest me to write both at the same time because I just don't have the time for that. Anyway, help me decide which one I should do first:
1. How to beat disable right-click
Or
2. Add Facebook comments to Classic Blogger template
Both are interesting to write, actually, especially the first one because it amuses me so much everytime I see people using that code on their websites/blogs and think that no one can 'steal' or copy their works.
And oh, I recently noticed that some people actually copied some of my tutorials (verbatim) and think they can get away with it. Now let me just make this very clear:
ALL THE CODES HAVE BEEN SUBTLY 'WATERMARKED', MEANING EACH ONE OF THEM HAVE BEEN CUSTOMISED SO THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO KNOW IF SOMEONE IS TO COPY THEM VERBATIM.
If you don't want your name to be placed in the Hall of Shame like this one, please refrain from redistributing the codes verbatim.Labels: random, undecided

This is the final installment of the 50 random facts about me series. Sorry it took so long to complete but I didn't actually plan to write the whole thing in one go. Besides, dividing the list into several parts keep the suspense going. :p
Anyway, here's the final ten random facts about me:
#41. I can't stand lame or tasteless jokes. Unfortunately I am often surrounded by people who do either or both of these.
#42. My boyfriend and I have a lot of things in common. We both love books, we enjoy intellectual conversations and of course, we just love good food.
#43. I sing in the shower. Though I'm not a very good singer.
#44. I want to go to Japan someday. And New Zealand, because I want to see the hobbit-houses.
#45. J.R.R. Tolkien is my favourite author. And so is Terry Pratchett (Pterry!). They're both awesome and beyond the world.
#46. I can be generous. My boyfriend and I share this view: money is to be spent, not stored.
#47. I don't like horror movies. Anything gore or downright violent freaks me out. But Resident Evil is an exception. :)
#48. I think Hugh Jackman is a hottie. So is Johnny Depp (have you seen him as Sweeney Todd in The Demon Barber of Fleet Street?).
#49. I love black pepper meat pie. Not the worst pie in London. *hintsreadpointabovehints*
#50. I get sad if I don't receive any emails in a day. Junk or spam emails don't count.
And one more.. (this is because #35 is a repetition of #12)
#51. I dream to own a book library. That'll be uber awesome.Labels: facts of life, random

This is my first entry in 2012 and I bet it's not yet too late to wish everyone a happy new year. I certainly wish this year would be a better year than the last.
Funny that my first post of 2012 should be another 10 random facts about myself. Well mostly it's because I can not think of anything else to blog about.
Ok, here's #31 to #40.
#31. I finally confessed to my parents about my boyfriend and my relationship..
On my graduation day no less.
#32. I've finally been to UK and France!
All within the space of two weeks. Cool huh? :D
#33. I easily get irritated over small things.
I don't know why this is so.
#34. I hate listening to horrible stories that involve motor accidents.
I find talking about mishaps that happen to other people is just plain gross and disrespectful.
#35. I don't like cooking..
Unless it's a special occasion or if I'm in the mood.
#36. I can not stand hot and spicy food.
And yet, I have this thing for food sprinkled with black pepper seeds and sauce.
#37. I don't like to be reminded of my ex-boyfriends.
Hahaha, I prefer the past to remain the past.
#38. I think Paris is only beautiful when it's not in winter.
I've been there, I've seen it.
#39. I dream of publishing my own book someday.
Unfortunately, the closest attempt at writing a book was when I wrote 100 words of incoherent nonsense. I guess I just don't have the talent to be a writer.
#40. At 25, I'm still jobless.
I know, how sad is that?Labels: facts of life, random

I'm currently busying myself with job hunts, writing up job application letters and drafting my curriculum vitae. This, of course, is not without countless delays (anyone smells a whiff of procrastination here?) and I seriously can't finish writing my CV in one sitting.
Anyway I've cleaned up the link exchanges section. I deleted all the links there and replaced them with others. If you want to exchange links with me, at least make the effort to come by my site and talk to me.
On a different note, I find it extremely amusing to learn that one blog author simply resorted to disperse the blame on other people instead of providing a counter argument. Awww, coming from someone who has every internal links on her blog to open up on a new tab and centering everything in the content box, this is not surprising. :D Oh, did I mention the same blogger puts a space in between a word and a punctuation mark (or between punctuation marks) LIKE . THIS ?
Also, I can't believe someone would encourage others to dump one service over another simply because the said person can't be bothered to type in the blog's URL in the input box multiple times. I mean, how LAZY can you get? The same person doesn't even give a reason why this one particular service is better than the other apart from saying it's "best".
But the funniest bit has to be the one where the blogger offers a tutorial on how to click a checkbox. LOLOL! Apparently clicking on a checkbox is a complex procedure that you actually need to be taught on how to do it. And to prove how pointless this tutorial is, unlike the other tutorials on the same website, no one actually left a comment on this page. Okay, enough said. *facepalms and laments*
Yes I'm a bitch for doing nothing but trolling on other people's website. :)Labels: random, troll

I'm glad the whole thievery shizz didn't grew to be an e-drama because frankly, I actually questioned my decision to reveal the copycat's identity. She probably didn't deserve the brute attack. But when she went on a rampage mode in her email, I stopped feeling sorry for her. Anyway, to cut the long story short, we've settled the issue (though in not-so amicable manner) so we'll leave this behind us for good.
Blogger's finally introduced the new user interface for the Dashboard. Previously it was only available on draft.blogger.com. It has a sleeker and cleaner design now though it will take some time to adjust to the change. The whole UI has been stretched across the browser, making everything look so much more organised. And I love the post editor. The canvas is a lot wider now (I no longer have to resize the canvas to give more typing room. :)) So if you guys haven't tried it out, you can now change your Dashboard's UI to the new design. XD
Good news, I've recently been promoted to the position of moderator at the super-duper awesome Teahouse MB. If you're a pixeler, or a fan of cute graphics, you must've heard of this message board. But if you haven't, it's never too late to join this awesome community! :D

I still need to work on Amalina.org! I've freaking neglected it for so long! Honestly, sometimes I feel like closing down the website but after thinking how much time and effort I've put into building it (I built the platform from scratch using HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL), I abandoned the thought. But I'm so uninspired and I don't feel like doing anything on it. :/
Anyway, I'll be going for my Masters degree interview tomorrow. I really hope I will get it. Wish me luck guys.Labels: Blogger, interview, random, THMB

Continuing my journey of listing 50 facts about myself. Today I'll post #11-#20.
#11. I am an Anglophile. For the longest time, I've been wanting to visit England myself. Ever since I was young, I was fascinated by the culture, which resulted in me hoarding books on English history. :)
#12. I can barely cook. I don't like cooking, unless it's something or for someone I like.
#13. I like to take afternoon naps. This habit started when I was in high school. It was too tiring and hot to do anything in the afternoon so I opted to go to sleep instead.
#14. I am an attention-seeker. What can I say, I'm a Leo after all. ;)
#15. I like cute things. This involves hoarding cute and colourful stationeries which end up stored in boxes and unused.
#16. I wanted to get married by the time I reach 25 years old. But now that I'm 25 and still unmarried, I think I'll stretch it to 28.
#17. I once dreamt of owning a house near the beach. Now I know it's just not possible because there aren't any available lands near the beaches.
#18. I think people who eat bugs are weird. I don't mean any offence here, it's just how I feel.
#19. I'm acrophobic.
#20. I think cats are awesome creatures. They can be graceful and ferocious at the same time. It's been said, "you don't own the cats. The cats own you." Hahaha!Labels: facts of life, random

Due to the lack of geeky updates on my part, I shall occupy your time with 50 facts about me. I deliberately did not put it as 50 interesting facts about myself as it is entirely your prerogative to decide whether or not, these facts actually of any interest to anybody.
Anyway, let's get on with it.
#1. I am very self-conscious of how I look. I'm not pretty, in fact, I sincerely believe I am no where near that category.
#2. Au contraire to #1, I am a vain person. That can't be helped, I'm a Leo after all.
#3. I find intelligent men to be highly attractive. I don't go for looks, he can be average-looking but if he has the brain, he's my man.
#4. I don't believe in BFF (Best Friends Forever). This sort of thing is ephemeral. People come and go. If there's any, well it doesn't happen to me anyways.
#5. I talk to my favourite dolls. Yes, that me. I have 5 plushie dolls: Bunny Bun-Buns (bunny), Tatum Theodore 'Teddy' Threadbare (Me-to-You bear), Leonie 'Rex' Lion (lion), Tommi Tom-Tom (cat) and Phobos (Proboscis monkey).
#6. I like pink. This is my favourite colour ever since I was young.
#7. I'm not a very organised person. All my stuff are all over the place and I can't be bothered to put them in order.
#8. I LOVE shopping. But I normally spend the dosh on books and food, not so much on clothings or accessories.
#9. I love web design, history (especially ancient history) and astronomy. Funny combinations, but I just find the coalesce of arts and science to be amusing.
#10. I find chatspeak to be a crude way of communicating. 'Nuff said.
Shall continue on the next 10 facts some other time. Toodles.Labels: facts of life, random

I was feeling tad bored last night so I made this:

I know it's not exactly the best pixel button you've seen as this is my first attempt in pixeling, but believe me, I tried. I envy those who can make gorgeous pixel graphics. I wish I can be half as good as them. Anyway, you guys can now use that button to link back to this website. :D

I've been blogging for close to 4 years now. My internet life, of course, started much earlier than that but I only started to relate with people through blogging since 2007. I didn't start off with Blogger. I began building websites on Geocities. Ror those who has not heard of Geocities, it's practically where the geeks from the 1990s built their websites, I'm not kidding. In fact, if you are someone who's been around the interwebs in the early 2000 and never heard of Geocities, you'd get responses like, "You've NEVER heard of Geocities!? Where have you been all this time?" So yeah, Geocities was such a big thing back then.
Anyway, Blogger only came into my life sometime later. I've designed countless layouts, and experimented with the tags. But after all these years, I still don't know what my fellow bloggers think and feel about me.
I have one domain name that is expiring on 28/6/2011 and I don't plan to renew it: thepandamonium.info So if you're interested in this domain, let me know, and I'll push it to you (you must have Namecheap account) and you can renew it yourself.Labels: domain name, Geocities, random

So a couple of people on Blogskins.com suggested that I should turn this site into a tutorial site. I must admit that it seems like a sound idea. However, since I already have a tutorial section on Nekonette (my main blogsite), so I feel this website should be a Blogger-related tutorial website.
It's not 100% decided yet, and I'm still open for suggestions so if you have other ideas on what I could use the website for, please comment on this post. :)Labels: random

Here're some more crappy pixel graphics from me... Read more »Labels: advertising, pixel, random

I was reading a thread on Blogskins.com on 'bad-ass' website layouts. Seriously, I have no cladding idea what 'bad-ass' layouts are. There's no clear cut definition provided and for heaven's sake, it could refer to anything.
